NICHOLSON RANCH

The 2006 Nicholson Ranch Las Madres Syrah shows white pepper, clove and allspice, with a nose of blueberry and plum. The texture is round and complex and very well-balanced. Aged in almost 40% new oak from France, this wine is tasting fantastic now and will age well in the future.

The first aromas that develop are of strawberries, cherries and raspberries. On the tongue, soft and smooth textures carry the flavors of these fruit and spice aromas melding together with dthe flavors of cola and Kir.

The first aromas are of lavender and rose petals followed by blackberry, cherry, cinnamon and clove. Bass notes of coffee, chocolate, graphite and steel round out the nose. This Syrah has good structure and tannin which promises a smooth velvety texture with aeration or aging.

Bold fruit and lemon-lime citrus aromas intermingle with vanilla and butterscotch. As this wine opens, overtones of peach, apricot, and tropical fruit add to the nose. The 2008 Natalie has superb balance and a rich finish making it a fine pairing for food, though wonderful on its own.

Layered and complex with light citrus and fruit aromas. Vibrant vanilla, toffee, caramel on the mouth which culminate in pineapple and star fruit which linger on.

This wine has an intense red color and bold berry scent. Cherry, raspberry and blackberry tempt the senses, mingling with cinnamon, tea and clove. Bold cranberry, dark red berries and currants highlight the strength of the wine.

This unfiltered wine is clear with a rich ruby-red color brimming with hints of red fruit. The nose is dominated by bright cherry fruit accented with spice notes. The wine is full in the mouth showing vibrancy and the brightness of its youth.

A blend of several vineyards from the cooler coastal portions of Sonoma County, this wine greets you with bright fruit aromas and continues on the palate with complementary flavors of bright strawberry, sour cherry and raspberry.

Aromas of orange blossoms and honeysuckle with a hint of vanilla bean. The taste is a rich creamy compote of spiced pineapple, peach, mango and apricot. Nuances of Meyer lemon and orange rind balance out the sweetness of the tropical flavors.

On the nose, aromas of honeysuckle, melon and apricot mingle with a richness of shortbread. Hints of nuttiness plus baking spices slowly. With first tastes, the tongue reveals a minerally texture with citrus and grass notes. With decanting, butterscotch, lemon curd and stone fruit flavors develop.

On the nose, aromas of cherry and kir, with spice notes announce the intensity of what to expect on the tongue. Backing up the brighter aromas are hints of earthy forest floor, hay and mushrooms. This is a big Pinot Noir, and thus one that will age for years to come.

Darker notes of huckleberry, black tea, cinnamon and clove are present with floral overtones of rose and hibiscus rounding out the aromatics. The sweetness of cola, brightness of violet, and dryness of pecans and cedar fill out the palate.

The nose begins with blackberries and lavender and ends with sage, rosemary and mint. The palate picks up with a range of dark fruit flavors that are buffered by the stem influence of ripe tannin, Provençal herbs and black olives.

Lavender and spearmint with a suggestion of violets and anise come through on the first sniff of this wine. Blackberry and plum flavors follow the floral aromas. Coffee, cocoa and baking spices add robustness to the nose and continue to show through on the first sip.

A gold medal winner, the 2007 Nicholson Ranch Pinot Noir is very fruit forward and supple. The mid-palate is smooth and rich and there is a lovely floral nuance with some spice from our 113 clone. White pepper and lots of cream on the mid-palate.
